Girl Scouts
Girl Scouts offers the best leadership development experience for girls in the world.
Girl Scouts unleashes the G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ in every girl, preparing her for a lifetime of leadership—from taking a night-time hike under the stars to accepting a mission on the International Space Station; from lobbying the city council with her troop to holding a seat in Congress; from running her own cookie business today to tackling cybersecurity tomorrow.
Our Girl Scout Leadership Experience is a one-of-a-kind leadership development program for girls, with proven results. It is based on time-tested methods and research-backed programming that help girls take the lead—in their own lives and in the world.
Research shows that girls learn best in an all-girl, girl-led, and girl-friendly environment. Girl Scouts is a place where she’ll practice different skills, explore her potential, take on leadership positions—and even feel allowed to fail, dust herself off, get up, and try again.

Our Program
Daisy (AEA Gan to 1st Grade)
Meets Sunday Afternoons (3:00pm to 4:00pm)
Daisy Scouts will be earning their daisy petals – this program uses the Girl Scout Promise and Law to teach social-emotional skills such as cooperation, helpfulness, safety, and compassion. Each petal is introduced with a story about the GS Flower Friends, and then has activities that reinforce the value being learned.
In addition to earning their Daisy patches, Daisy Scouts will earn their My Faith My Promise pin (matching the GS promise to Jewish values); participate in cookie entrepreneur activities; earn their Safety badge; learn introductory outdoors skills; and participate in World Thinking Day, which links Girl Scouts across the globe.
Brownies/Juniors (AEA 2nd to 5th Grades)
Meets Sunday Afternoons (4:00pm to 5:00pm)
Brownie and Junior Scouts get to choose which badges they would like to earn during the year. Options will be presented at our first meeting.
In addition to the activities chosen by the girls, they will be earning their Safety and First Aid badges; earning the My Faith My Promise pin (matching the GS promise to Jewish values); participating in cookie entrepreneur activities; learning outdoor skills and Girl Scout traditions; and participating in World Thinking Day, which links Girl Scouts across the globe.
Cadettes/Seniors/Ambassadors (6th to 12th Grades)
Meets Sunday Afternoons
Our older Scouts will be participating in a specially designed virtual program called “Prepared for Life”.
This program teaches life skills that are not usually covered in the school classroom, such as cooking basics, moving out on your own, car care, personal safety and emergency preparedness, finances and taxes, household chores, personal and women’s health, getting a job, applying to college, civic life, media savvy, and other skills.
Older Scouts will also have the opportunity to participate in whole troop activities like Encampment and cookie sales.

Odds and Ends
Registration cost is $30 to GSCB (once registration system reopens). For this year, we will ask for money to cover events and supplies as needed.
Uniforms – The Girl Scout uniform is an age level tunic/vest/sash with a white shirt and khaki bottoms. Council sells other uniform items, but they are not required. While we are virtual, we will not be having any events that require a uniform to be worn, however, girls may enjoy being in uniform for virtual meetings… also, having a tunic/vest/sash makes it less likely you will lose pins and patches. Our troop receives a discount when ordering as a group, so we will have an opportunity to order uniform items together.
You can view uniform options online at the Girl Scout Shop: www.girlscoutshop.com
You can view diagrams of where to place insignia on uniforms here: http://catalog.girlscoutshop.com/uniform-brochure/page/1
